CITY OF HORICON RESOLUTION NO. 2024-17 RESOLUTION DESIGNATING HORICON PUBLIC LIBRARY DAY WHEREAS, in 1899, E.T. Johnson, principal of the Horicon School, was instrumental in the formation of the Horicon Free Library Association; and WHEREAS, the following year and all the years since, the City of Horicon has supported the Horicon Public Library; and WHEREAS, the Library welcomes and serves all people of the community and the surrounding area; and WHEREAS, the people of Horicon, by their continued use of the Library from the beginning, demonstrate beyond question the need for such a Library; and WHEREAS the City’s necessary support and resources enable the Library to most effectively meet the serve demands and needs of the community; and WHEREAS, the Library Trustees and Staff continue to embrace change and adapt to the needs of diverse users, maintaining the Library’s vital role in the community; and WHEREAS, the Library has been as asset to the community for 125 years and more, providing people with free and open access to traditional and digital information as well as entertaining programs for patrons of all ages; and WHEREAS, the Horicon Public Library is an essential life-long destination, connecting our community to opportunities that educate, empower, enrich, entertain, and inspire. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Common Council of the City of Horicon hereby designates Friday, October 25, 2024 as HORICON PUBLIC LIBRARY DAY in honor of the 125th Anniversary of the Horicon Public Library BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, we invite all residents to join us in expressing their great pride and appreciation for this community resource’s long and valuable service.
